Welcome to MeningitisBC.org - We are parents who have lost our children from a strain of meningitis which was preventable.  It was our belief that our children were protected against meningitis only to learn after their death that there are other strains of this disease and a quadrivalent meningococcal conjugate vaccine against serogroups A, C, Y & W-135 (MCV4) which would have protected them.

Please don’t be tormented by the echo that we hear at night,“If only we had known…”.  We created this website to provide a wealth of information with the opportunity to prevent another death or disability due to this deadly disease in British Columbia.

Our goals include:

  • To educate, create awareness, and inform Parents, Caregivers, Teachers and University Students about this deadly disease and the prevention by vaccination that has been implemented in 8 other Provinces in Canada.
  • Lobby the B. C. Government to implement the MCV4 and 4CMenB vaccines in our public immunization program.
  • Support meningitis awareness and promote the MCV4 and 4CMenB vaccines in BC universities and colleges.

Our sincere thanks and appreciation goes to Dr. Ronald Gold, MD, MPH, Senior Medical Advisor, Menningitis Research Foundation of Canada for the medical expertise and support we received.
